DESIGN INFO // FALL TREND FORECAST + HIGH POINT RECAP
It is finally starting to feel like fall here in Florida and I couldn’t be more excited to break out my faux fur throw and walk around the house in slippers! I wrapped up a trip to High Point Market last week and fell in love with damn near everything I saw. I completely failed at my plan to take photos in each showroom because I was too busy touching all of the fabrics, stuffing my face with delicious food, and sipping champagne. Rough life, I know. I did, however, manage to make note of my favorite pieces and jot down a few trends that I see emerging for Fall. Some the items shown below are "trade only" so if you happen to love a piece, shoot me an email and I can get more information for you!
#1- Lush Fabrics
Velvet, leather and hide are definitely having a moment. These fabrics can add a lot of character and depth to a space and invite you to lounge in comfort. Jewel tones are perfect for fall as they up the cozy factor in any room. Try layering a hide rug over your current one or mixing in plush velvet pillows on your sofa for a quick fall refresh.
#2 - Feminine Silhouettes
Rounded corners, channel back tufting and curvaceous pieces were spotted in many showrooms and can bring a bit of romance to any space. These pair perfectly with modern pieces as they soften their hard edges and angular lines.
#3 - Textured Furniture
I saw so many beautiful cabinets at Market that featured molding, inlays or carved door and drawer fronts. They are meant to make a statement all on their own and are proof that a piece can be both beautiful and functional.
#4- Sculptural Lighting
Lighting has always been one of my favorite accessories in a room and lately I am seeing an increase in the sculptural qualities of lamps and chandeliers. Whether it be through dramatic shapes or interesting textures, there are plenty of ways to add a bit of oomph to your room through lighting.
#5 - Unique Finds
I saw a lot of quirky decor at High Point with an emphasis on animals and the human form. Stuffed foxes, T-Rex sculptures, stone busts and brass skulls were among some of my favorites. These pieces are a great way to add flair to a space and show off your personal style!
