STYLING // THREE TAKES ON GLOBAL BEDROOM DECOR

  ONE   //   TWO   //   THREE   //   FOUR   //   FIVE   //   SIX   //   SEVEN   //   EIGHT   //   NINE   //   TEN

Infusing a bit of global decor into each project is kind of my specialty.  It doesn't have to shout "hey, look how hip I am with my fair trade Peruvian frazada" but rather more subtly, "I like a layered and collected mix in mi casa".  So if you are looking to add a touch of global to your bedroom but aren't sure where to start, I have created three simple looks around a neutral tailored bed.  Personally I am not a fan of crazy patterned or colored bed only because they can be hard to redecorate if (more like, when) your style changes down the road.  If you can honestly tell me you will love that hot pink paisley print 'til the end of time, go ahead an invest in it....otherwise neutral is the way to go!  You can always throw a fun textile or even small rug over the headboard if you are feeling like you need something with a little more oomph.

MODERN ECLECTIC GLOBAL STYLE

Interesting linework, unexpected shapes and a mix of materials are really what give this bedroom its eclectic feel.  To balance out the structured geometric lines of the rug I added funky curved lamps and let the vintage kilim pillow be the star of the bed.  If you want more textile action add some natural linen euro shams and a chunky knit throw at end of the bed.

NEUTRAL GLOBAL BEDROOM STYLE

Even though this bedroom has a minimal color scheme it is anything but boring - just look at those carved wood nightstands for heaven's sake!  I paired a faded black tribal rug with a soft, creamy cactus silk pillow, minimal styled lamps and and let the textures of each piece shine.

GLOBAL GLAM BEDROOM STYLE

Velvet, brass and jewel tones add instant glam to any room.  To keep things from getting too femme I used Mid-Century Modern inspired nightstands and sconces.  I absolutely love the brass + black detailing on both pieces.  The vintage rug is the showpiece of the room (aren't they always) with perfect pops of pink and blue.
